A youth group under the aegis of Niger Delta Youth Alliance for Change, NDYAC, has said; it is mobilising youths in the six states of the Niger Delta region for a rally in support of President Goodluck Jonathan’s second term bid.
The Co-ordinator, Comrade Boma Watson, made this known shortly after a meeting of NDYAC in Port Harcourt yesterday.
Watson, who stated that, NDYAC was happy with the adoption of President Jonathan as the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, for the presidential race, in 2015 by the National Executive Council, informed the group to plan to storm Uyo, capital city of Akwa Ibom later this month for a mobilisation programme tagged “Niger Delta Unity Rally” and later spread to other states of the region.
According to him, the rally is intended to adequately mobilise youths from the Niger Delta and garner full support for Jonathan. Watson stated that, President Jonathan is the best candidate for the presidency in Nigeria, pointing out that, his transformation agenda is a clear testimony of visionary leadership.
“Niger Delta Youth Alliance for Change is a youth group in support of President Jonathan’s second term bid. The constitution allows him a second term and as far as we are concerned there is no better candidate for this country in 2015.
“In the past few years that Jonathan has ruled this country you can see that, he has vision in a way and manner he has transformed the economy, from health to education, electricity, and even the unity of the country through the national conference that just concluded.
“We want to use this opportunity to thank the National Executive Council for adopting our President, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan as the candidate for PDP in the presidential election.
“On our part, we have concluded plans to go to the six states of the Nigeria Delta, mobilising youths for Jonathan’s full support. The sensitisation is tagged ‘Niger Delta Unity Rally’ and we will storm Uyo on the 25th of this month where we will share our handbills in all the streets of Uyo. President Jonathan must be returned in 2015 for a second term”, he stated.
